Say what you will about the benefits of free agency for players but I like the idea of a great player being associated with one franchise. Magic = Lakers, Bird = Celtics, Jordan = Bulls, etc. Most of their prime years were spent trying to win a championship for one city/franchise. There is no pride anymore associated with these rental players. Tough to root for guys like that.
